• Today at Wimbledon – The Tennis Ball Sofa

This was created from a street found sofa. I estimated that I would use 300-400 balls and ended up using over 1400. The balls were collected over a period of two years by members of my tennis club.

As a huge tennis fan I was honoured when the BBC said they’d like to use the piece on their ‘Today at Wimbledon’ set.

John Inverdale was rather taken with his new throne describing it as, ‘The perfect fusion of art and sport.’

I had a lovely time on the installation day. I had a mouche about, took in some games and boosted my cool in the nephews under 5 category by meeting Hacker from the BBC Broom cupboard crew.

The sofa was subsequently placed on display for the athletes in the Olympic Village. We plan to hire it out until the end of 2012 with the hope of raising money for two charities,Tennis for Free and Plum Arts.
